Semiclassical is jet black with a tan foam and a big chocolaty aroma. You might even mistake it for a stout as you begin to drink it, but then a spritzy tingle on your tongue kicks in and all that richness washes away into a clean lager finish.

I had this beer on-tap at the brewery in a nonic glass.
Appearance: deep rich dark brown hue with a thin layer of light tan foam leaving a good lace on the glass.
Smell: light malt with a little caramel and roasty character. Not bad.
Taste: caramelly with a decent roasty character. There’s a bit of extra astringency here, which doesn’t quite work for me.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess for the style.
Overall: a decent schwarzbier, though perhaps not my favorite schwarzbier around.

A: Pours a near opaque black color. A dense one finger beige head forms and sicks throughout. This has lacing for days.
S: Big toasted malts and bread. Light chocolate, maybe some coffee. Really simple and enjoyable.
T: Like the nose, toasted malts up front with baked bread. I love the bready character here, some grains, chocolate and coffee. Though doesn't quite get to roasted malt territory. A bit of earthy and grassy hops in the finish. This is excellent.
M/O: A medium to full body. Perfectly crisp and effervescent carbonation. Supper clean, and finishes dry as well. I can down this in big gulps, and excellent dark lager that I want to keep coming back to.
Incredibly well made, and find spot on for the style. At this point it should be no surprise that Holler can make true to style lagers. Can't wait to get back to the brewery and have some more, which is all you can really ask.
