This is a special beer, that I am sure will be in Holler's regular rotation. As a commemorative beer released on the occasion of the Holler's first child (though named after Momma, cause Holler wouldn't be Holler without Kathryn ha). Anybody that glances at my reviews know I love Holler, and have many encounters with them and the staff. I'm not going to say I don't have a bias, but still always try to give my honest opinion. Cheers to their new daughter and the family. I don't think they look at BA, but am sure they would know me just by what I write here.
A: Pours a dark brown with some ruby around the edges. A two finger beige head forms with good retention and light lace is left behind.
S: Big toasted malts and caramelized sugars. Some dark fruit aromas, bread and more sweetness.
T: Like the nose, plenty of sweetness going on. This almost becomes cloying, but toasted malts and bread help to counter that. Some fruity flavors like plums and raisins. Even just a hint of hops in the background that help to keep this from being overdone in the sweetness department.
M/O: A full body with good carbonation. This does become a bit sticky and slick, though also smooth after this breaths a bit. Really easy to drink. I can come back to this with ease.
I very much like this, as an American version of a Doppelbock. There is certainly a lot of sweetness going on, but is also balanced. It doesn't quite hit the malty heights of the true German examples or Live Oak. Though in true form a very good offering at the brewery. I'll be getting more, and hope their new baby can have some in 21 years (I'll buy).

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
