This uses a Kveik yeast strain.
A: Pours with a substantial haze without being in the opaque territory of some NEIPA's. This pours a darker orange color with a one finger white head that recedes with some lace left behind.
S: The nose is odd for me, partly the yeast character I think. I don't want to say its "funky" but definitely not the cleanest profile in the nose. Some maltiness and melon and grapefruit hops in the finish.
T: Again, that yeast is a bit odd and hard to pin down., and not as prominent as in the nose. Though more malty than I would like for an Imperial IPA. Toasted and bread like. Then the hops come into play with some melon and grapefruit bitterness.
M/O: A full body with moderate carbonation, that has a little bit of chewiness going on. The alcohol is well hidden but this doesn't seem to pop for me. I can't say I'll be coming back to this all that often.
The mixture of the odd yeast and malt presents drowns out any real IPA qualities for me. Which make me think the point was to show off an odd yeast strain instead of the hops. I think a different style would have been better suited for this. Not a huge fan, and a rare miss for me from Holler.
