This is the Cask Conditioned base Stout Holler uses for Stouty With a Chance of Peanuts. No adjuncts added, and it is only available on the Cask Engine when they make Peanuts. So its definitely a limited rotating release, but they have done it several times and figured it disserved its own listing.
A: Pours a near opaque black color. A dense, but silky smooth cascading beige head forms. Excellent retention and lace. This is a looker.
S: So simple but damn good. Roast, creamed coffee, light chocolate and a touch of dark fruitiness.
T: All the roast is up front. With coffee and chocolate flavors. A touch of fruity esters that comes off as dark fruits, this can very depending on what day you have the cask though. A touch of roasted bitterness lingering. Beautifully simple and enjoyable.
M/O: A medium body with excellent carbonation for a cask. A textured, silky smoothness. Which all leads to a really easy to drink stout.
I couldn't care less about the Peanut Stout, but always look forward to this whenever available. This is a perfect example of why less is more, and how cask can elevate simple styles and beers and makes them great. Again, only available on cask, and more breweries should do be doing this. All around excellent.
