This is described as a Brown Ale aged in oak with black currants. Like so many of Atwood's concoctions, it's a good mix of fruit and funk. They seem to be careful about not overdoing the acidity and blowing out all the fruit and sweetness. Color is an unusual dark ruby with a brownish tinge.
This one has a malty mellow undertone with a sharpish fruity highlight. The currants have their own tangy odd flavor which is quite distinctive. Overall this is both interesting and tasty. Aftertaste is roasted grain , dark fruit, and a touch of seeds and stems for a modest astringency.
