Crisp clear golden yellow body with excitable effervescence making a visible journey from bottom to top. The subject of the bumrush is a big fizzy white head that settles down but maintains solid coverage of maybe half to a third of a finger. Decent lacing. Certainly better than I'd expected.
Nose is mild earthy with some green apple and light funk. Maybe pear. You know that quintessential belgian yeast aroma? Somewhere in the banana/green apple range? That's in here too. I can convince myself of honeysuckle floral notes but I'm not sure that would have necessarily been my conclusion without the label.
Taste is led by that belgian yeast character of banana and green apple. Some light funk and clean earthiness. Mild sweet note towards the end could be the honeysuckle, or again could be suggestion amalgamated from the other characteristics. But if it is that latter option, it certainly does a good job of approximating honeysuckle.
Light bodied with aggressively bubbly effervescence. Aftertaste fades pretty quickly which fits with the warm sunny afternoon sipping for which it is best suited.
I am not a big fan of the belgian yeast character outlined above in general, so I may not be the perfect target audience here, but if that's something that excites you it's definitely worth reaching for.
