“But it’s just right there,” she said. The ribbon of pavement stretched as far as we could see in either direction. It was a different time back then. There were few border agents, no cameras, and not even any cows along this stretch of the International Boundary. The only thing standing between us, universal healthcare and Tim Horton’s was this goddamn ditch and the nagging feeling that I forgot to turn off the cooling jacket on fermenter number four…
ZERO AVENUE (technically, ‘0 Avenue’) is a modern pale ale with farmhouse tendencies. When Skagit Valley malts and Fraser Valley hops meet their Norwegian friend, Voss, at Peace Arch Park for a picnic, it’s all about melons, citrus fruits, biscuits and allspice, but with a medium body, snappy bitterness and appropriately selected glassware. Or, fuck it, just drink straight from the can. #livewithyourchoices
Brewed with Skagit Valley barley, wheat, triticale and buckwheat malts; Belgian specialty malts; Fraser Valley-grown Cashmere, Centennial and Lumberjack hops; and Norwegian Kveik farmhouse yeast.

16oz can courtesy of BBThunderbolt. No freshness date. Apparently, this is "estate grown," at least in terms of hops. The can indicates the malts, while not estate grown, comes from the Skagit Valley, so this is a beer entirely brewed with ingredients found very close at hand.
Poured a chill-hazed golden amber color, with a big, fluffy, off-white head. Lots of lace.
Soft, slightly floral, slightly vegetal but overall very restrained hop aroma. Soft, bready malt scent as well.
Up front, there's hop flavor, but it's very mellow in amplitude and surprisingly herbal. There's a little scoche of lemon as well on the back end. Slightly tea like.
Fairly light bodied, a little watery in the mouth feel.
It's always cool with a beer is estate grown, but this one doesn't really deliver too much on the flavor department. In particular, the hop flavor doesn't do much for me. Glad to try it, but I'd give it a pass in the future.

Clear rich yellow color with enthusiastic foam in the Hopleaf goblet. Pleasant slushy mouthfeel. Aroma is straw, green tea, and earth, with a woody touch. Tastes of grain and a hint of bitter cider apples. There's a yeasty taste reminding me of the Belgian dry, yeasty finish. Rather bitter like green tea.
This is a more herbal taste in hops than the fruit we are used to. Very much in the Atwood "grow your own" vein. Not something I'd seek out but it's clean and well made. From the 16.9 oz can purchased at Community Co Op.

16.9oz can (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a cloudy dark yellow color with 1/3 inch of white head that had good retention and light lacing.
The aroma had a nice hops presence, earthy grains, and a touch of funk from the kviek yeast.
Fairly similar on the tongue, with the hops seeming softer and the grains being a bit bolder.
The body was smooth and even, with a medium finish.
Drinkability was pretty good, went down easily, and a bit too quickly.
Overall, a pretty nice brew. Worth a shot if you see it.
