Dark brown brew with long-lasting beige foam in the Fullers pint. Not as black as a Schwarzbier, and anyway it's a "Dark Ale" rather than a Lager. This seems like an ingenious way to raise the profile of the usual soapy brown ale. It's rather hoppy with wintergreen and alfalfa, but not bitter enough to call it a Black IPA. The malt is slightly charred but there is some warm roast and some malty sweetness.
This is totally drinkable and adds a new kind of "light" brew to the lower-ABV spectrum. An interesting brew I hope will inspire others to try for something dark and out of the box. Bizarre Brewing, I'm talking to you. From the 16 oz can.
