Because it's often surprisingly cold in spring, a nice warm Porter is just the ticket. Huge black malts celebrate the art of roasting, with a complex blend of chocolate and caramel malts. Dry, roasty, and full of flavour, it's what you need when stevedoring, digging hops rhizomes, or breaking out of the winter shell.

I saw this on the board at The Roundel Cafe at Hastings and Nanaimo and had to have a pint. (It isn't even on their website but RB has reviews).
The beer pours jet black with a generous head. The nose is roasted dark malts and chocolate opening up as the beer warms up. This is a cousin to Back Hand of God Stout but with a thinner mouthfeel and almost easier drinkability which is true for the style vs a stout. As with any Crannog beer you get the organic goodness showing up in every step in the mouthfeel. You just know that these guys care about how the beers are made from the ground up (literally). This is a great porter that ranks among BC's best though I am more partial to Back Hand as I prefer the bigger mouthfeel.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
