Halo Brewery

This place really made us feel welcome. We stopped in late as part of a beer tour and were seen to very quickly. The food was tasty, the beer was top notch. Loved sitting at the picnic tables, gave a friendly feel to a classy looking dining area.

 

 

this is a really neat little spot, a small brightly lit storefront that opens into a cafe looking setup with a small bar in the middle of the place, behind which the brewery clinks and clanks in the back, and in front of which a handful of tables seat drinkers. they have really cool art in here, on their beer menu, on their labels, it sort of reminds me of grimm, almost too similar, but its appealing to me, modern and interesting, and i am more or less there by myself on a thursday evening. they had a nice range of beers on, some inventive stuff and some more classic offerings. i had time for two, a rose hip wild ale that was very good, and a sarsaparilla stout that blew my mind! the stout was incredible, but both were excellent, and it gave me the impression they really know what they are doing. the service started off just okay, for being the only guy at the bar, i wasnt greeted immediately, she was super short, and couldnt really bother looking up from her manual bottle labeling mission long enough to give me any time of day, but after awhile she warmed up and ended up being real friendly and recommended some great other spots around town for me to check out. i liked the small, hands on vibe this place casts, and the beer was really very good, some of the best i had in the city really. definitely add halo to your list if you are brewery hopping around enormous toronto!

 

 

 

To have a brewery like this in the neighbourhood, wow! Good vibe, creative beer.

 

 

 

Soft opening of new brewery and tasting room. We will revisit when more than 4 taps on and the paint dries. 2 beers, the ipa and the gose really caught our attention. Very promising.
