16oz chalice at the brewpub - apparently this is so exclusive that 1L takeaway howlers aren't permitted - wow, the douchebaggery continues with this establishment. Sad face emoticon not accessible. Oh well.

This beer appears a slightly hazy, bright medium salmon amber colour, with one skinny-ass finger of wispy and weakly foamy off-white head, which leaves some hollowed out igloo lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of pungent fresh raspberries, some tame milky sourness, a sort of musty dustiness, some gentle grainy and crackery wheatiness, and plain leafy and earthy hop bitters. The taste is semi-sweet, grainy and doughy pale and wheaten malt, a rather restrained green raspberry fruitiness, still mildly past its due date milk, and more mixed leafy, weedy, and musty floral green hoppiness.

The bubbles are adequate in their assertive and probing frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and mostly smooth, none of the funk or sassy fruitiness arising to make my palate feel sorry for itself. It finishes trending dry, what with the sweetness drained out of the headlining fruit, and the backbone of the malt not really holding up its end of the bargain.

Overall, I dunno - something seems lacking here - maybe it's the big opening number (raspberries up the yin-yang) that quickly dovetails into a simple and efficient sour fruity ale, one that doesn't carry the guest fruit along for the full ride. Take that analogy as you will, Situation Brewing.
