8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square. So now they've added ginger to their Raspberry Gose. Got it.
This beer appears a hazy, pale salmon-tinged yellow colour, with one skinny finger of wispy and bubbly off-white head, which leaves pretty much nothing in the way of lace anywhere near the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of bready and biscuity cereal malt, earthy ginger, some mild yeastiness, a bit of indistinct tropical fruitiness, and some plain citrus rind. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, faded spicy ginger, frozen raspberries, orange rind, earthy yeast, and a very faint leafy, weedy, and herbal green hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly low-key in its innocuous frothiness, the body a so-so middleweight, and generally smooth, with a touch of sourness kind of messing with the ideal at this particular juncture. It finishes trending dry, the raspberry showing some lingering mettle.
Overall - this is a pleasant enough iteration of the style, with the adjuncts doing well to represent themselves. Good for another hot summer day in the ol' Chuk, and a way better deal than paying for a pint or growler at the actual brewpub, just sayin' - yes, I am a broken record.
