Outrageously hoppy and classically bitter, Boxing Bruin is a true IPA. Five unique hops and a touch of Belgian Candi Syrup create a burst of vibrant tropical aromas and flavours of lime, mango and lychee. The body is smooth with focused bitterness and a refreshing finish.

Doc Perdue was Blyth's veterinarian in the late 1880s who rescued and cared for a variety of animals, including a bear cub he named Bruin. Along with impromptu boxing exhibitions with the fully-grown Bruin, Doc's office became Blyth's unofficial zoo - and a popular spot for gatherings.

I bought a can at the LCBO in Ontario 473ml at 6.3% .
Poured into glass with a 2 finger head smell fresh fruit maze the taste was well balanced with tropical fruit flavours going down easy leaving a lace as you drink.
Boxing Bruin IPA..
Would definitely buy it again.
Overall it's very refreshing and enjoyable to drink
Cheers

L: Translucent cloudy amber, lots of bubbles
S: A bit faint but nice floral hoppy scent
T: Hop forward with notes of pine and grapefruit pith. Subtle bready malt. Slight alcohol taste. Medium bitterness.
F: Thick and creamy almost but also frothy and light.
O: The flavour is strong but a bit boring and bitter. Similar flavour to a Red Racer but not quite as bright and punchy of a flavour or as crisp of a mouth feel.

Look: Rich hazy yellow with orange highlights. Off white head (hints of yellow marigold). Head pours 2 fingers levels down to a 1/4 finger of dense foam in 5 minutes.
Smell: Wet pine forest with tropical fruits.
Taste: Open and juicy on front end, dank in middle, and bitter on end. Flavour is very earthy and unique. Orange peel, grass and clay.....but in a good way.
Feel: Medium body, Plays low on the tongue and bottom of mouth. Nothing for the top of the palate.
I don't agree with the brewery this is outrageously hoppy....and that's a good thing. This beer stands out for hewing a unique flavour. It's balenced and interesting. Not something I'd want all the time, but it's worth while in the semi regular rotatation. I give it a solid B.

The beer poured out with a nice white head, but ended up being quite hazy, with a hint of an orange colour. The smell hit with citrous notes, followed up by strong orange / lime flavours on tasting. Overall quite enjoyable.

On tap @ EJs Baden - pours a liightly hazed pale gold with a smallish white cap..aroms are demure but there is some sweet malts and grassy-spicy hopping and earthiness...flavor is bitter with malts in support role, clean bitter finish...a decent English traditional IPA

I liked this one better than most IPAs. Poured a slightly cloudy light orange with a frothy white head. It had a smooth hoppy taste without the punch of some IPAs. Very enjoyable and easy drinking.

Got this one from the LCBO this past summer

From a 16oz can into a snifter
IBU: 50

APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, foamy white head with good retention. Perfectly clear burnt orange with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a splotchy wisp and ring. A splotchy wisp remains until the end leaving traces of lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Piney aromas with grapefruit notes, lemon and caramel malts on the nose. Some green tea in there as well.

TASTE: Odd flavors for sure. The green tea is just weird up front, with notes of caramel sweetness and tangerine peel as well. Some bitterness at the swallow, then a bold and lingering finish of green tea, some lemon and lime, piney bitterness and notes of caramel sweetness as well.

PALATE: Medium-lighter body with medium levels of carbonation. A bit foamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes dry on the palate. Some bitterness lingers.

OVERALL: This is a well-balanced brew but not sure I particularly like the green tea addition initially. The flavor and aroma don’t really match as well. An interesting idea but not something I’d want to have again.

Pours orange tinted gold with a stable creamy head. Aromas of grassy citrus hopping. Flavour: tropical fruit - mango, pineapple, honey, cookie dough against hop bitterness.

Pours light orange with plenty of yeast in suspension. The frothy cap lasts a good while, mustering plenty of lace ridges and trails. Popping the can reveals a burst of tropical fruity hop aromas. Some cookie dough malt in the nose too. Orangey, pineapple, mango hops take the lead in the first sip. Some grainy malt and residual sweetness in the back. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with sparse carbonation. The finish is moderately bitter with a building lactic sweetness.

This is a good IPA with a nice hop profile, it's a tad sweet though. Worth a try, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Ah, if I was a Boston fan, I’d be all set cause who doesn’t love a boxing bruin....but does this Blyth brew pack a punch? let’s find out. Poured into a tulip of semi translucent golden goodness. Nice collar here that last well. True IPA nose here but on the light side with fruity finishes. At 50 IBU this is a good entry beer if you have never tried an IPA before, fairly complex with fruits, pine finish and grassy undertones. Decent enough aftertaste. I would like a bit more body, bit more bubbles and bit more punch but overall, again, a good entry into this style and a decent enough find.
