A: Pours a dark black, near opaque with a dense tan head that forms. Which recedes quickly to leave little lace.
S: Aroma is of dark malts, bread and chocolate are noticeable up front. Though an annoying copper penny like metalic aroma takes over immediately.
T: The malt character is more present with dark breads, powdery chocolate and caramelized sugars. A bit of a metalic flavor in the finish, but not nearly as annoying as in the nose.
M/O: A medium body with moderate carbonation. Fairly smooth, but would like it much cleaner. Not something I'm planning on coming back to any time soon.
As noted, I wasn't digging an odd copper penny aroma which I think influenced my opinion on everything else. Subtract that and this might be one of the few Flyway beers I would enjoy. As is, just OKish and not very appealing for another pint.
