Not a bad stout by any means but it could definitely use some refinement and polishing as it's a little rough around the edges. Deep dark roasty malts dominate throughout while teetering on the edge of burnt leaving an astringent bitterness and accompanied by booziness poking through a tad too much for my liking.

Chocolate, coffee, and some herbal hops in the background comprise most of the profile which lacks the depth and complexity to run with the big dogs in this category. Mouthfeel is actually pretty darn good as its sufficiently full and chewy to allow the flavors to shine but they just lack the oomph to fully take advantage of it. Not bad but not great

Pours black with a nice two finger head. Aroma is roasted malt and coffee. Taste is roasted malt with a bit of chocolate in the aftertaste. Body is moderate, not smooth with a bit more carbonation than anticipated. The finish is a bit on the harsh side but within the imperial stout style.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Pours a deep midnight hickory topped by a finger of light sandstone foam. The nose comprises harsh roast, toast, molasses, and pine sap. The taste brings in more of the same, though becoming increasingly stringently bitter as time marches on. The body is a hefty-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. A decent enough stout until the finish just kinda leaves me, well, bitter.
