Having this beer on-tap at the brewery. Served in a pint glass, this beer draws a very dark brown, almost black color with a tan head that’s about half an inch thick when first drawn and served. Head pretty quickly to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass along with a some bits of lacing. Aromas of very roasted malts with hints of caramel sweetness and a good dose of coffee bitterness along with some dark chocolate too. The taste follows suit, with some roasted, bready, caramel sweetness along with some hints of dark chocolate bitter sweetness and black coffee bitterness along with some earthy hops. Good balance of flavors. Has a crisp, slightly oily, also smooth, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Easy to drink in the way good beer ought to be.

Poured into a tulip at the brewery
A: Pitch black, thin head
S: Freshly roasted coffee beans, chocolate and a bit of malt
T: Bitter coffee & a hint of bitter cocoa
M: Medium-bodied, bitter
O: Six shooter roasts good beans but they’re a bit strong here. A good beer but the bitterness overwhelms a bit
