I added this beer as an American Amber/Red Ale based upon the beer's attributes. It's simply labeled as 'Spezial' and the website seems to imply that the style rotates.
A deep, reddish-brown amber color with a thick, lasting cream colored head that leaves a good amount of lacing. A really nice looking beer. Aromas of caramel malts with a hint of grassy hops. It is also has a strong whiff of, strangely enough, peat. Quite pleasant, though. The taste is mellow, with more hop presence than the aroma leads to believe. The hop bitterness dominates throughout, and like the aroma, has a grassiness to it. The body and carbonation are low-medium, finishing with a dry, bitter hop bite to it.
Overall, a great beer whatever the style.
