Cervezas Artesanal Rondeña “Rubia”
33 cl bottle coded “Consumo Pref. /Lote 14/07/24 7L022723” and sampled on 27/11/23
Look: A massive head of rocky white foam has tried to climb out of the glass and now looks like ice cream perched atop a hazy dark gold body. Hundreds of tiny bubbles can be seen rising quickly towards the surface and even a few minutes after pouring I’ve still got more foam than beer.
Smell: It’s bready, grainy, and yeasty with some bruised apple-like fruitiness.
Taste: As the aroma suggests with some added softly floral and herbal hops. Surprisingly, they use whole flower hops. It’s firmly bitter and dry in the finish with some earthiness and herbal character lingering.
Feel: Medium bodied and quite crisp with a high level of carbonation that’s at least 2.7 vol. CO2/liter and perhaps even 2.9 whereas around 2.5 - 2.6 is standard.
Overall: Charming and refreshing.
