Atco Brewing Co. "Kölsch"
On tap at the brewery on 17 February 2018
Notes: While I heartily object to them using the term Kölsch instead of Kölsch-style or Köln-style that's as it is. It's not from Köln though, so it's not a Kölsch, and that's how that is. Moving forward, it's a pretty good representation of the style. It's got the proper appearance with a clear gold body beneath a short head of bright white foam, and the proper aroma with grainy malt dominating and just a hint of hops way in the background. The flavor follows and it's clean and balanced. If this was delivered to my table in Germany I wouldn't be disappointed, but neither would I be particularly excited. The head retention and lacing could be better, and it could use just a flicker more hops to bring it alive. Still, it's nicely done and well balanced. Easily accessible and very drinkable. Worth trying.
