12 oz. bottle poured into tight nonic
(April 27, 2017 best before date printed on label; looks like Nov. 16, 2016 printed on bottom of bottle (?))
L: copper, clear, brilliant up to light ... lots of orange, dark orange and brown with hints of red ... gorgeous; topped by thickish sticky head of beige foam, about an inch tall; the stick off the head is very nice, coat of paint in some places; keeps a dense little beige collar, very tiny bubbles, most of a skin; a work of art
S: orange-peach tea; plenty sweet -- bread malt, slight caramel/mango, peach kolaches; after some warming and halfway into the glass, bright peach with a bit of mango, no bread malt at all
T: orange, mango, some bitterness but loads of mangoey sweetness ... no discernible brown ale flavors, no bread malt pop of the English style, no darker malt burnt/char-wood flavor of the American style; the malt is pushing in tons of sweetness, but the way it's mixing with the meridian hops, it's all coming off like a mangoey American IPA/DIPA
F: fantastic, not overly heavy but does have some midweight heft, loads of carbonation to help you take a gulp if you like but doesn't sting
O: again, Real Ale's Brewer's Cut produces a flavorful, well-made brew; the fact that it's advertised as a "brown" but tastes nothing like one sucks, especially for us who love both the English and the American versions of the brown ale, but the meridian hops are approaching their expiration date and are *still* punching ... probably not like they were fresh out of the vat, but for an American IPA, this is good; hate to dock Real Ale points, but regardless of the numbers here, this beer is good enough that it reminds me to get on this series and stick with it

12 oz bottle to pint glass. Pours a small head, solid brown color. Aroma is piny and citrusy, but has a hint of sourness that may not belong. Excellent taste, just what you might expect from description: malty brown mixed with a strong hop aftertaste. Carbonation just right. On the whole highly drinkable bitter.

I didn't really like this. Hops didn't work on it. I want my brown ales to be more malt forward and not bitter from hops. Single purchased from HEB, would not buy again.
