Poured into a pint glass and got a thick tan head(about two fingers thick) that quickly dissipates into a finger thick creamy covering. The body is dark with dark amber/maroon hues on the outer portions of the beer. I pick up some mild malts cream and slight fruity aromas come through. Its got a light mouth feel to it and is bitter throughout the tasting. The aftertaste is a bit bitter as well, this is an interesting beer that’s quite simple and taste good and goes down easy.

Big thanks to texasclimber for saving some to share with me.
Poured from a self-capped bottle that was transferred from I presume a growler and then poured into my sniffer.
Appearance: It pours dark and thick looking with no head, only large bubbles on the top that quickly fade.
Aroma: Huge amounts of bourbon and wood. This is the most oak I have ever smelled from a beer. It as like placing your head in a barrel and smelling. Vanilla, caramel, and molasses compliment the oaky aroma.
Taste: Pretty boozy! Bourbon dominate, with hints of vanilla and roasted grain.
Mouthfeel: I can't knock it for being under-carbonated, due to the way I was given this beer so take this part and the appearance with a grain of salt. Virtually no carbonation (due to the beer being transferred and the age in the bottle I assume), thick with a noticeable alcohol burn. There are also some tannins that I presume come from the barrel.
Overall: It would be nice to have some proper bottles of this beer and age them a bit to decrease the alcohol in the nose and perhaps the tannins. I enjoyed it and was glad that I got to try it since I couldn't make it to the anniversary party.

On tap at the Ginger man in Austin. Poured into a shaker pint with a 1 finger head that dissipated fairly quickly. Appearance is thick black. Aroma is roast malt. Coffee chocolate some spicy hop presence. Small amount of fruityesters.
Taste is a nice rich chocolatey with some coffee notes. Some roast character lingers in the aftertaste but isn't astringent.
Mouthfeel is medium heavy with a pleasing aftertaste.
Overall this is a very delicious beer that I look forward to every year.

A: Pours an opaque brown color. A one finger beige head forms, but recedes in a minute. Light lace is left behind.
S: Lightly roasted malt and chocolate. Sweet vanilla lingers on.
T: Again, some lightly roasted malt, chocolate, and vanilla. Slightly vinegary and sour. Very interesting.
M/D: A medium body and carbonation. Easy and smooth to drink. Something I can quaff with no problem.
This is interesting. I can't say that the barrels really add much, except a vanilla sweetness and a very light vinegar character. However, I would recommend this just for the uniqueness.
