Originally brewed to celebrate the brewery’s 16th anniversary, and wildly popular as a seasonal release, Four Squared lives on in our year round lineup to quench the thirst of both the hop beginners and the most ardent hop heads. Lighter bodied and not too bitter, the balance of Four Squared leans heavily towards its dry hop component, a combination of Crystal, Amarillo and Mosaic hops that brings a brightness to the hop flavor and won't weigh you down. Save the resin and dank for your IPA, this beer is all about the tropical, juicy citrus that grabs you from the first sip. Dry and refreshing, bright and fruity, Four Squared keeps you coming back for more.

12 oz. can poured into "craft beer glass" (wide-mouthed stick)
(best by 3/22/16 printed on bottom of can)
L: clear pale gold with careful pour (lots of debris in bottom of can), stunning clarity, pushes up a massive head of white/offwhite foam, at least 3-inches tall and as sticky as glue
S: hoppy ... citrus notes of orange, grapefruit ... plenty sweet, a little caramel/mango, but the hops won't allow *too* much sweetness, creating a mix that's like liquified sweet grassy hops ... or a sweet cilantro if such a thing existed ... or pineapple
T: floral/citrus hop flavor, orange, orange peel, grapefruit ... very sweet with enough light-malt flavor to give it a hint of breadiness, which fades into a bit of caramel/mango but not much; not overly bitter, but there *is* a bite, kind of grassy/lemony, smoothed out nicely from the malt sweetness
F: solid all around ... I gave this a hefty pour and swirled it around some to help pick up the aroma, and it's still holding onto some carbonation ... sturdily made
O: I waited too long to try this brew. It's a fantastic pale, plenty of hop flavor, plenty of malt sweetness, all of it mixing nicely together. And with my best-by date being about a month out, I figure this can is at least five months old ... wow. If it's this good that old, what must it taste like fresh? I'm going to check dates and find out down the road, but the best news about this beer is for my taste buds, anything inside the best-by date is good enough to drink.
Real Ale's year-round lineup continues to amaze me. It might be Texas' best.

Very refreshing beer with a good hint of grapefruit, crisp and dry, with a great flavor, fruity,...goes down smooth and easy.
Sadly, it has been tough to find. I hope they haven't quit brewing it.

Cask. Beautiful pour, with clear gold body and full head and lacing. Lush, fruit forward hops, with moderate bitter backend. Solid feel, with dry close. Lovely.

Very refreshing beer. Sweet grapefruit rind on the nose, crisp/dry, great flavor, fruity,...goes down smooth and easy to drink. Its light for a pale ale. Good stuff...worth trying one if you haven't.
