"This is Real Heavy aged for six months in whiskey barrels."
Thanks to Errl for sharing this growler.
The beer pours a reddish color with a white head. The aroma is full of oak character, with a lot of vanilla and maple notes coming through. I also get a lot of dark fruit, as well as some toffee and caramel notes from the base beer.
The flavor is nearly identical. You can tell this is a scotch ale from the amount of toffee and caramel notes, but what really comes through is the whiskey barrel aging. I get a good whiskey character, as well as some vanilla and alcohol.
Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
