A: opaque; very dark brown - almost black; less than a 1 finger medium brown head that receded quickly to a thin collar; very little lacing;
S: roasty and toasty; a little coffee, a little bittersweet chocolate, a hint of molasses;
T: follows the nose up front, but dried fruit, molasses, and vanilla take over in the middle and stay dominant through the finish; a little boozy; relatively sweet with a touch of bitterness at the end;
M: full bodied; light to moderate carbonation; dry finish; alcohol is warming, but not hot;
O: complex flavor; smooth for an 11% beer;

Pours pitch black, ample mocha head. Nice mocha aroma. Pretty flavorful, lots of chocolate, some brown sugar. Pretty sweet. Thick, rich, chewy, fairly full bodied. Overall this is a pretty good beer, not a must have for me.

On draft, in 12 oz stemmed glass
Dark black colored, cream colored head, decent head retention. Sweet cocoa and milk chocolate aroma. Taste is a bit sweet for me. Medium bodied.

Pouring a cellar temp 16 oz can into my snifter. The beer pours a dark cola brown color with a fizzy khaki colored head of 2 cm. The head fades to a sturdy edge layer and some wispy islands that float around through the sampling.
The aroma is some roasted malt and some dark chocolate and a bit of molasses and brown sugar. Smells a little boozy but I dont get any hop notes at this point.
First sip reveals a thick body with very fine carbonation. The texture is smooth and a little chewy in my mouth. Feels like a big beer, and it is.
The flavor is roasted malt, brown sugar and a bit of dark chocolate. There is a little bit of warming booze after each swallow and some lingering roasted malt hits and molasses.
Again, no hops showing up on the flavor profile.
Tasty, sort of robust beer that does drink bigger. Nice for a cold snowy evening.
