32oz growler from the brewery. Pours a black color with an inch of dark brown head. Sweet chocolate and maple syrup in the nose along with licorice, leather, roasted malts, earth and caramel. The taste is maple syrup and black coffee up front followed by leather, licorice, caramel, roasted malts and earth. Molasses and maple syrup finish. Very little alcohol presence. My only real gripe is that it's thin for the style, but since I'm drinking this in July it isn't he worst problem to have. Pretty solid overall.

Pitch black pour with initial head that looks like thick espresso. Dissipates quickly which was a little odd. Nose is coffee and chocholate. Some booze in there as well. Not getting much maple. Roasty malts are preset. Taste is underwhelming for the style. Some booze with toasty malts up front followed by coffee and some sweetness probably from the maple syrup. Mouthfeel is. A little light. I was expecting so much more from this beer and although it is not bad in a world of outstanding stouts this barely holds up. Can't taste any maple. Coffee flavor is good but can't being this beer up to the upper eschelon of big stouts. This is no match for good morning for sure. I like stouts and like this but was hoping for so much more.
