Had on tap. My first Fox Farm at last! I see why they are so highly regraded. Brownish black pour with a tan head and tons of lacing. Earthy and roasted malt with slight char, caramel, tobacco, and coffee in the nose. Taste has leather mixed in with the agressive yet balanced roast and big earth, with tobacco, a hint of rye and a caramel red thread running deep underground. Feel is the moneymaker: robust, dry, smooth yet very roasty, chewy.

Appearance: Pours midnight brown with mahogany highlights; the one finger tan head fades to a film but leaves plenty of lacing behind

Smell: Toasted dark bread, molasses, burnt wood, chocolate and coffee tones

Taste: Opens with toasted dark bread and chocolate, the blackstrap molasees and coffee emerging; after the swallow, the burnt wood aspect takes over, bringing a bitter finish that still has the sweeter elements underneath

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Really enjoying the "robust" aspects of this brew that salute the strong flavors of a traditional porter

Canned 10/25/23, Thanksgiving gifted by The Woodchipper, poured 12/12/23. Poured shockingly pure black with a nice chocolate froth. Espresso chocolate malty roast on the nose, and on the taste. There is a bitter sharpness , dryness to ponder after each sip. Fox Farm has that back to garden earthiness that are their brews signature, and Hearthbound is no exception. Very nice, flavorful, a treat!

16oz can courtesy of Roguer.

Poured into the glass, it was a solidly opaque shade of dark brown, virtually black, and conceded nothing when held up to direct light. Decent sized tan head. Nice webbing of "beer negligee" style lace.

Chocolatey and coffeeish dark malt aroma was the notable nasally oriented feature.

Taste wise, more roasty up front then the nose indicated it would be, but it's very well balanced with the sweeter aspects the former category promised. Finishes with a slightly dry and slightly sweet note.

Medium-full body, tilted more towards the medium end of the spectrum. Good carbonation, with a slightly dry, almost crisp mouth feel.

A quite easy drinking take on the robust Porter. The balance between the sweet, roasty, and dry aspects of the style are excellent. I would hit this again in a heartbeat.

Look...Black with a thick consistency considering the lower ABV. A brown chocolaty head with a stick to the glass lacing
Smell...Chocolate malt and roast. Light hint of earth and hops.
Taste...A velvety roast of light coffee and existing bitter. Grassy overwhelming bitter dictating with a cocoa equally. This beer has an English stout quality.
Feel...A slick and not too thick quality . Some lacing involved in the show with medium carbonation with an easy drinking tilt
Overall...This beer is very nice and easy to drink. A very solid and well made beer that I like for its balance between thick, sweet, and bitter. Balance is so important in good beers . Fox Farm thank you

Thanks to Roy_Hobbs for this one from his hits during NBS BIF #15. 16oz can (dated 1/5/22) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid black color with an inch of light brown head that had good retention and light-moderate lacing.

Light-to-moderate roast over solid malts had the front of the aroma, with just a faint hint of hops in the background.

Similar on the tongue; solid and roasty grains, very light hops. The roast did linger for a few moments at the back of the palate.

The body was fairly typical for the style, fuller than medium, lighter than full, and had a finish that started out a bit sweet, but the roast dried out nicely.

Drinkabilty was very nice, an enjoyable quaff for sure.

Overall, a very nice take on the style, and another really good brew from these guys. Certainly worth your time if you get the chance.

Dark brown body; big, thick head, dense and creamy, light khaki color. Outstanding aroma; rich, sweet and malty; milk chocolate and cocoa; coffee suggestion; grain char. Full flavor; dark and sweet chocolate; a touch of vanilla; very subdued bitterness beneath the sweetness; espresso. Heavy body; lush and silky; velvety residual sugar feel; dull, earthy sweetness on the palate.

Fox Farm produces a winner. This porter is rich and decadent, silky smooth and heavenly in taste and overall appeal.

Pouring temperature: 43 °F; canning data: 01/05/22

Poured from a 16oz can picked up today at the brewery, stamped "Canned on 03/31/21" at fridge temp (I was impatient).
Opaque black body sits below an amazing light brown head. Holding to a bright light the body has hints of red and brown in the extremities.
Aroma has a subtle sensation of sweet composted leaves.
The taste is powerful dry hit a chocolate maltiness that sweetens only after the swallow while your tongue dries to bitterness again. There is a hint of fermented cherries or raisins.
Mouthfeel is impressive for a porter, thin for a stout (I know, debatable distinctions on those styles, these are my opinions).
Excellent Porter, no surprise from this place.
