Susurrus, back for the third time, has come to always feature kettle additions of yarrow plucked here on Music Vale Road and sumac foraged by our buds at Hunts Brook Farm as well as a re-fermentation on a combination of second use fruits. Following a period of foeder-aging, this batch was transferred onto the spent blackberries and black raspberries from Avalonia: Black…it might very well be our favorite fruit combination for the beer. Our intent with Susurrus is to always treat the fruit as a compliment to the botanical component of the beer, never drowning out or dominating the delicate yarrow and sumac. These fruits, much more than previous combinations, mingle with and enhance that side of the beer in a beautiful way.

750 ml bottle split with my wife, poured into a wine glass. Pours a light purple/red with a medium off-white head. Some retention and lacing. Aroma and flavor feature bright berries with distinct floral/herbal notes. Oak tannins and a hint of vanilla. Hint of saison yeast esters. On the dry side, not sweet despite the ripe berry flavors. Light-bodied, but not watery or light in flavor. Overall a fantastic and unique beer.
