Riffle is a new West Coast-Style IPA made with Columbus and Simcoe Cryo hops along with Riwaka and Strata. As we prepare to head west for hop harvest this month, we can’t help but think of our most recent travels in that direction and the evolution, or perhaps branching, of the style that we’ve observed in recent years. A leaner, cleaner interpretation of the style with a saturated hop character is something we’ve come to love and think we’ve done justice with Riffle.

Canned 5/2, gifted by a fellow BA, cracked 5/24 , pours golden yellow straw, nice head that reduced to a a lager like appearance. Aroma is lighter lemony, floral. Taste is again lemony, pepper cracker , bitter and dry finish. Light , refreshing , with a bitter pepper aftertaste , smacky which is very pleasant. This will be a tasty ipa to bring to the Memorial Day picnic that is tasty and a responsible drink. Yummy!

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 09/11/24 to a Nonic at fridge temp. Purchased yesterday at the brewery, kept cold. $4.65 per 16 oz can.
The body is slightly hazy letting light through, and of a straw color. A pure white head of uniform 0.1mm bubbles, sits 2-fingers high immediately after the pour, but fades soon to a single layer. Lacing is moderate.
The aroma is a little musty, and vegetal.
The flavor is bitter and the vegetal aroma feeds into the up front taste. Citrus comes in the middle, and a bitter dry finish ends it. But that vegetal aroma persists through the entire experience
The mouthfeel is light to medium, slightly oily and carbonation is strong.
Not sure I like that vegetal flavor and I’m not good enough to say this is DMS or just the Strata hops. Not off putting but it made me knock this down a bit on the ratings.
