In collaboration with Pints and Panels, the creation of our dear friend Em Sauter. Standing in contrast to Quiet Night, our Czech Dark Lager, Schwarzbier finishes particularly dry and clean. The bitterness is a touch firmer as well, only accented by the dark/baker’s chocolate and coffee we sought to coax from the malt. Altogether those qualities make it as refreshing as it is satisfying - it’s honestly a great style to enjoy day or night this time of year.

Matte black with a moderately short and lumpy but creamy tan head.
Even fluffier than the already impressively fluffy Highland Cats I had before it at Torst, particularly in the intro, this delightful mouthfeel then recedes to a slick Guinness-like body delivering delicate roast that nears tobacco and woody smoke before pulling back into cacao and finishing sharply semi-dri and lightly acidic, like coffee.

On tap at Vermont Brewers festival, 3 oz sample pour. This is really good, quality stuff. It certainly stood out amongst the non hoppy options.

Black with a tan head that settles into a lasting cap and leaves decent lacing. Roasted coffee and Hershey syrup in the nose and the taste. Full bodied and creamy for the style. Refreshing.

I was surprised by this beer. It had an excellent look, with coffee colored body topped by a dark tan head. The smell was that of fresh bread, with a hint of coffee. The taste was smooth and refreshing, with almost no bitterness. Notes of coffee and chocolate prevailed. I would drink this regularly.

Dark cola brown color with a hefty off-white head.
Aromas of bready malts, brown bread, toffee and milk chocolate with some faint spicy hops.
Taste has lots of chocolate and caramel, with some freshly baked bread and dark fruits.
Body is medium-light with moderate carbonation.
Overall a great dark lager that is well-balanced and drinkable without sacrificing flavor.
