We‘re thrilled to introduce a new blended stout called Crackle. Similar to Oath, Crackle is a blend of young, fresh stout with more mature, barrel-aged stout - the latter component utilizing a bit of cherry wood smoked barley and locally-grown, oak-smoked wheat. Crackle was conditioned on cacao and vanilla beans. While those adjuncts bring in an impression of rich sweetness, the smoked stout lends the beer a balancing drying effect and a very subtle wisp of smoky flavor. It’s an absolute treat of a beer that opens up and evolves with grace in the glass.

12oz can served in a Speigelau tulip. Batch 1 - 2025. Pours the color and clarity of cola with a frothy, quarter-inch, mocha-colored head that quickly disperses into a soapy skim across the surface and a thin, bubbly band around the shoulders. Nose reveals notes of cherrywood, cacao and a touch of smoke in the background. Taste is interesting - dark chocolate, immediately followed by a hit of spice, vanilla/marshmallow and a complex finish (earthy/medicinal/artificial smoke). Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a pleasant, even carbonation and a light oily/silkiness to the texture. Overall, interesting with quite a bit of complexity, but this beer doesn’t come together for.

Sampling a 12 oz can poured into my snifter a chilled temperature. Date stamped 12/10/2025. Picked up at the brewery today.
Beer pours a dark black coffee color with a dense creamy tan head of about 0.5cm foaming up. This foam fades to a very thin edging that sticks around on the glass and creates minimal lacing when I swirl my glass.
Aroma is some bittersweet chocolate, hints of vanilla and a little bit of smoked malt. The vanilla is definitely the strongest to my nose, but certainly isnt overpowering. There is no hint of ABV on the nose and it doest seem like any hops were harmed in the making of the beer.
First sip reveals a medium body and silky smooth texture. Carbonation is fine and fairly soft on my palate. Beer drinks very easy and feels pretty nice.
Flavor is similar to the nose, but here some soft smoke is what lingers along with a little milk chocolate note. Honestly the flavors are very well balanced and play well with each other. Again no hint of ABV and hops are totally hidden. Im glad to was able to try this one, the smoke isnt overpowering which is nice. Would gladly drink again.
