Presentation: 12 oz. brown bottle with no freshness dates. Served in an oversized wine glass.
Appearance: It develops a one finger head that goes down into a thin foam layer and leaves some spectacular lacing that coats the entire glass. It's a very dark reddish brown color, almost black.
Smell: The smell is quite sweet and floral with some hints of caramel, malts and dried fruit.
Taste: Fruity and a little bit sour with a hint of saltiness but none of these flavors are as jarring as they sound. They don't clash with each other and go along well with the caramel malty sweetness that lingers in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: It's and light to medium bodied with medium carbonation.
Overall: The unique combination of flavors make this beer more interesting than your average, run of the mill red ale. That said, it can get a little bit cloying and it feels more boozy than the listed 5.6% ABV lets on.
