A- Reddish hue with coppery/deep gold undertones in color....slightly chill hazed. The head starts out well, being about 3 fingers thick, is eggshell in coloration and dense, however, it does retreat rather quickly into a foamy ring around the top of the liquid. Carbonation is very slow to rise and the lacing is rather modest as well, showcasing a watery film around the inside of my glass. Nothing to write home about but not offensive looking either.
S- Rather heavy malt profile on the nostrils, with nuances of toast, roast, and boasts robust beer nuttiness overall. There are hints of hop bitterness throughout and just a generally nice aroma! There are perhaps notes of apricot kernels and orchard fruit too....interesting!
T- Flavors follow suit but there is a freshness about it that is much different than I am used to.....plenty of fresh malt, robust toasted barley, almonds and really not a whole lot else! The finish is clean, modestly bitter, and refreshing....perhaps a little fresh and weak for my overall liking but I'm not against it either.....above average for sure!
M/O- This is highly drinkable due to the light body, medium-heavy carbonation and the flavor being there, yet its clean and not in your face like some other Reds I've enjoyed. I was, to be honest, hoping for a drier version of the style but still, I have no issue with this one and will purvey my notes to the brewery....still room for improvement!
