473ml can - another generous offering from the local rep - I'm not usually into sours, but hey, I'll give this one a go.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden straw colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly bubbly bone-white head, which leaves some random splattered lace around the glass as it evenly sinks out of sight.

It smells of grainy and crackery cereal malt, one of those weird oranges you are tempted to buy at Superstore, some faint red fruitiness, a damp minerality, some generic sourness, and a very, very, very faint estery, leafy, and weedy green hoppiness. The taste is grainy and bready pale malt, a mixed exotic frooty character, slightly soured milk, faint dead yeast cells, and more well-understated earthy,, musty, and end-of-lifed floral hop bitters.

The carbonation is fairly active in its palate-probing frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and more or less smooth, in terms of the style we're talking about here. It finishes trending dry, the sour character maybe trying to assert itself for real at this particular last-effort juncture.

Overall - not a bad attempt at a fruited sour, but the blood orange and pomegranate kind of seem to phone it in. Easy-drinking, to be sure, but not something that I would want to revisit, for any of such a beer's normal attributes.

A pomegranate and blood orange berliner weisse.

Appearance - Pours a hazy straw with four fingers of dense frothy white head.

Smell - citrus, blood orange, pomegranate, sour aromas, biscuity malts, and mild funky brett yeast.

Taste - mild citrus, blood orange, and pomegranate upfront. Not as sour as the aroma suggests which is not a bad thing. The biscuity malts and funky brett yeast round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation. Finishes crisp and dry.

Overall - An easy drinking brew that is quite refreshing. The fruit was more predominant in the aromas then the taste but still a respectable brew.
