really nice expression of mosaic hops, this is bold but also cleaner than mosaic often can be, i think they use several forms of mosaic in this, the pellets, the cryo, and the extract, all coming together really well in literally the perfect style for this hop, the emergent west coast pils, and this is a darn good one, makes me realize i have not had nearly enough beer from amalgam either. pretty golden brew, sunny colored with good clarity and a tall white head on it, airy and floating there effortlessly, well carbonated to my eyes and to my palate, really lively and refreshing feeling brew. the nose is killer, none of the catty side of mosaic, heaps of fresh coconut, lemongrass, and sliced real pineapple, the fruitiness is awesome, its super clean, and there is some apparent punchy bitterness in play too which i find really appealing. the grain is definitely pils malt, but it doesnt hit super european to me without the yeast interacting with it, this is a more neutral fermentation profile than a czech or german pils, and an exceptionally clean one. the flavor is right there with the nose, nice minerality and base water chemistry, bold layers of mosaic come in waves up front with even a berry note i dont usually associate with this varietal. its oily and dank next, sticky icky and weedy for sure, a more resinous and almost concentrated side of mosaic, but still just riding this mellow bready malt base, balanced but hop forward. finally its pretty bitter for mosaic, and there is a wrinkle of gasoline, hay, and orange candy that all hit together, not as grassy or vegetal as anticipated for this level of overall hop intensity, and even with the bite at the end the beer still stays drinkable. exceedingly well refined and professional overall, cool showcase of a very complete mosaic spectrum, and a beer of very fine quality. modern as they come, tidy and easy, bold and even memorable at the same time, lovely.
