Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet black cholate notes with some coconut and lactose and faint banana notes are also perceptible. Taste is a mix of sweet fudge notes with some coconut notes with some residual sugar, vanilla and faint banana notes also perceptible. Body is full with oily like texture and creamy body with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol notes. Solid pastry stout that is quite rich but keep solid drinkability.

Pours a thick jet black with an over-abundance of carbonation. Head dissipates unevenly, leaving add-junk sediment on the sides of the glass.

Aroma is muted. Brown sugar. Roasted nuts. Milk chocolate. The banana headliner does not make itself known to the nose.

The nuts come through first in the tongue. Not obviously macadamia but though. A hint of a metallic note that is not off putting. Roasted grain. Just a hint of banana. No coconut to my taste.

Thick, full bodied. Tiny chunks of the add-junks in a couple of sips. Pleasant.

This is not the best BBC pastry stout I’ve had. In fact, I’d say it is the worst. Saying that, it is still quite nice. It falters in its over-carbonation and very limited banana presence. Reading other reviews, I’ve noticed many say similar things. Still, a very enjoyable beer.
