Oja - Rum Barrel Aged

This is a variant of Iowa Brewing Company's regular Oja, a Baltic Porter made in honor of a friend of the brewers. This variant was aged in local 5 year old Rum barrels(Cedar Ridge if I remember correctly) with coconut, cocoa nibs, and vanilla. Sure sounded like a winner, so I picked up 2 bottles. Pours on the black side of brown with a small mocha head. Well carbonated. Picked up the rum on the nose intermingled with a slight coconut presence. Taste follows suit. Good rum notes with coconut dancing faintly in the background. Picked up chocolate on one sip. I did not detect vanilla. My one knock on the brew is that it seemed a little watery. The flavor was there, but gone before the brew was completely consumed. End of the day a pleasant surprise.
