12 oz. can
6.0% ABV
Date: 10/23/25 - Note: There is nothing to indicate what the date refers to (e.g. packaged, born-on, best-by, etc.)
$13.99 6-pk @ Winter Springs Liquors
AROMA: Mildly sweet, with mild scents of milk chocolate and malt. As the beer warms, I start to get notes of ground coffee and cocoa.
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a 2-finger, tight-frothed, tan head that dissipates down to a pencil thin collar, moderately fast. The collar, on the other hand, lingers for quite a while. Lacing is minimal when I finish the pour and just let the beer sit and the head dissipate on its own. However, there is moderate lacing after taking a sip and letting the beer settle back into the glass. Overall, a nice looking beer.
TASTE: Mildly sweet, with moderate coffee flavor and mild notes of cocoa nibs. The coffee flavor reminds me of the bulk, commercial coffees like Maxwell House and Folders. While it's not bitter, it doesn't have any real depth of flavor like more expensive coffees do. During the finish I get more of a coffee grounds flavor, rather than coffee itself.
MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a somewhat loose texture that gives the sense of wateriness but with more heft/body than water. Carbonation is about average.
OVERALL: In general, I love coffee porters. I do not love this one. However, I don't hate it either. For me, it just has some oddities in the flavor and texture, that would keep me from buying in again.

12oz can, adhesive label. No dating information found. Label art by @Art of Jamie Jones.
Dark brown to black colored body. One finger of light tan head, and this sticks around as a full cap. Leaves behind irregular spots of lacing.
Aroma of dark roast coffee infused malts.
Taste is dark roast coffee, without any sweetener. Slightest hint of vanilla.
Medium mouthfeel. Coffee bitterness lingers. Thin but smooth. Very good carbonation.
Dark roast coffee dominates in both the nose and the flavor.

Dark pour with a light brown head that disappeared pretty quickly.
Smells like coffee. Taste like carbonated coffee. Somewhat dry and watery.
Placed fairly low on my drink again list.

12 oz can from Total Wine in Florida. With a March 2021 canning date (stamped on the bottom of the can), this is a bit old but it has been stored under refrigeration.
Appearance. Murky, opaque, dark brown body with a weak head.
Both the aroma and the flavor are impaired by a coffee component that suggests stale coffee grounds rather than fresh coffee.

Wow, just wow...If youŕe looking for a beer to taste like a shot of dark espresso, no milk, no sugar, just slap-your-face espresso, this is your beer. I had one tonight and I am honestly concerned about being able to fall asleep tonight.
Seriously though, I think I will be okay, but damn, if that isnt twelve ounces of a Cuban shot of coffee I can find any day of the week in Little Havana. I am telling you, this tasted like it packed a punch. Given all this, I do not think it worked well as this porter. It looked and smelled great, but the rest of it left me a tad disappointed.
