Poured from a can into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a one finger head of puffy white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is a mix of a light caramel and cereal grains as well as some aroma of cayenne pepper and a bit of herb.

Taste - The taste begins with a light and crisp cracker malt taste that is mixed with a tiny bit of sweetness of caramel and honey. Right from the start there is a rather light showing of a spicy cayenne pepper taste. As the taste advances the cayenne pepper gets stronger, while the other tastes begin dwindling a bit. By the end, the cayenne really overpowers the rest of the flavors and ends up leaving one with an unbalanced spicy cayenne pepper taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is very light and crisp with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the spice that hits the tongue toward the end the feel is better as it minimizes the overwhelming cayenne pepper taste to some extent.

Overall – Not really my thing. The cayenne pepper is overwhelming and just leaves one with a spicy taste to linger on the tongue. There really is no balance here. A brew I will not come back to again.
