Cabernet Barrel Belgian Blonde: 7.8% abv 18.5 IBU
Being introduced to the wine barrel at a slightly lower ABV than a typical barrel aged beer allows this light Belgian style to take on a bit of a “wild ale” character. During its nearly 8 months of maturation in French oak cabernet barrels, our house blonde went through a lot of changes while at the same time keeping the strong characteristics of its original flavor profile. The wine adds a bit more of a dry finish and bright fruit; the oak brings on hints of vanilla and apple; while time, yeast and temperature compliment each other with huge notes of pear, clove, a lactic tartness and a touch of funk.

Sample at Beer Meets Wood last weekend.
Just short of hazy deep golden with a bubbly white head. Grape aroma and flavor is strong and somewhat overpowers the base beer which seems to have hints of earthy peach.

L: Pours a slightly Hazy golden yellow color with a small white head that dissipates quickly with a couple fingers of lacing.
S: Notes of fuzzy peach, slightly toasted malt, a slight white wine grape note, very little hop presence.
T: Fuzzy peach, notes of sweet white grapes and a lightly toasted malt. Has some sweetness but finishes quite dry.
F: Medium body and high carbonation.
O: A solid barrel aged beer, I like how the peach flavors blend with the grapes from the barrel.
