I am not sure where I got this beer, probably a BIF last year. I love coffee beer, bourbon barrel aged beers and stouts. The beer is 50 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour on the beer produced a two finger is an airy and creamy head. The head dissipated fairly quickly leaving heavy lacing on the glass. The head is a medium tan color. The color of the beer is SRM 37 a dark brown nearly black. The beer is opaque.
The initial aromas in the beer are char, dark roasted malts, and wood. Next, I smell coffee, molasses, anise, solvent, vanilla, bourbon, floral, burnt sugar, and bready.
The flavors in the beer are dark roasted malts, wood, vanilla, bourbon, floral, burnt sugar, smokiness, coffee, molasses, anise, solvent, floral, oak, dark chocolate, bready, and char.
The mouthfeel of the beer is thick and dry.
The body of the beer is full, medium carbonation, and a full finish.
The beer is good, but I wish the flavors were more pronounced. The coffee and the bourbon barrel is mixed in there, but they are weak. The beer is a B at best. I have drunk much better stouts. I wanted a thicker body in the beer.

Overal not a great beer. Thin mouthfeel for a stout and not a ton of coffee of bourbon; a bit bitter and lots of dark chocolate. $20 for a bomber and didn’t want to finish it; a disappointment.

2nd Anniversary 2018 Edition. Pours from 750ml bottle black with a thick tan head that lasts. Aroma is mostly roasted notes with some bourbon. Flavor follows with roasted notes, but mor bourbon than the aroma would suggest. Feel is good, especially for a 8.1% stout, but not great. Overall it’s a nice bourbon breakfast stout.

Their 1st anniversary beer. Described as a imperial coffee stout, aged in bourbon barrels. Pours a thin body, with a mild head. Lots of big bubbles. Smell is roasted malts. Flavor is malts, some coffee and zero bourbon. I mean, zero. Body is very thin.
Overall, this is a very poor job for what they are going for. You get a bit of coffee and no barrel at all. Im glad someone gave me this and didn't waste $20 on it and have to wait in line.
