a super clever fruited sour ale here done with matcha tea, like nothing i have ever tasted for, smart for a number of reasons, and easily the best beer i have ever had from accomplice. the fruit is real cohesive in this, but its the tea that drives it, bitter at the end like hops would be, but so flavorful throughout. its done with cucumber, kiwi, and honeydew melon if i remember right, but it also gives off aromas and flavors of key lime and lime leaf, lemongrass, green grape, passion fruit, and green gooseberry, really complex, botanical, juicy, and interesting. i like what the cucumber does, kind of gives it that hotel lobby water vibe, and the sourness is real cool too, lemony and tart but not sharp, clean and not sweaty, and the tea seems to love the acidity too. it sounds so weird, but it works so well, inventive and purposeful and just really professionally executed, even to a degree not evident in most of the other beers i have had from these guys before. i love it. its summery and unique, the melon is really honest and natural in it, and the bitterness from the matcha really helps it finish. great beer here, drinkable for what it is, and one of the better fruited kettle sours ive had all summer long. they should keep this one in their permanent lineup, it slays!
