L- Under lamplight it appears blacl. Low visual CO2, just a thin v pale brown perimeter ring.
S- It has a good deeply roasty-toasty smell to it.
T- Notably deep roast, notes of charring, some coffee, possibly even wisps of smoke coming in. Balancing hops, even slightly zingy, are evident too.
F- It's quite pungent flavour highlights its relatively thin body.
O- I'm of an age I value balance of flavour/feel etc over boldness of individual aspects. I like the clear and distinct flavour, but (IMHO) the Feel doesn't sufficiently balance it. It comes over as rather thin > over-hoppy and therefore light. This observed mis-match seems not unusual in contemporary stout recipes. 'Hipsters don't drink 7.5%+ stouts unless they're sweet/Milk Stouts'. I'd like to see this with the same flavour and richness but say a 7-8% version, I'd expect to enjoy that a lot more. Ah but then, I'm not the target demographic I know :)
440ml can, bought from Selfridges London. BB end April 2023, ie v soon, hence reduced to clear.

Key keg. Ebony with a thick tight head.
Smells of burnt toast and coffee grounds.
Tastes like an earthy version of the aroma. Chocolate is also present. Charred bitter finish.
Medium carbonation and body.
Decent enough but served too cold.
