IIPA. 9% ABV. On-draught @ Jabeerwocky in Warsaw in Summer 2016.
A: Pours no head at all. Body is a murky dull copper. No yeast is visible within.
Not the most vibrant or inviting beer, but it's not egregiously off-style.
Sm: Hop profile is floral, and...that's it. Very generic. As is the simple pale malt backbone. Hides it's ABV decently in the aroma, but otherwise it seems somewhat subpar, if not insipid.
T & Mf: She ain't boozy but she's real warm, and it detracts severely from her drinkability. It's just as insipid as I feared, offering only a weak generic flavour profile comprised entirely of muted floral Hops and generic pale malts. I don't know which Hops were used, if only because barley any hop character comes through.
Alcohol dominates in the mix, but it's simple and shallow to begin with, so the Hops and malts put up no fight.
As it warms, some rindy bitterness comes through on the back end, further destroying any semblance of balance.
Mouthfeel is warm, possibly even gushed. Smooth and wet, yet Unrefreshing on account of its high carbonation and obvious alcohol presence.
O: Difficult to drink, perhaps less for its alcohol presence and more for its bland tired flavour. I wouldn't trifle with this schlock again, but I suppose in a way the market demands a brewery try their (its) hand at this style. Unfortunately, at least in this case, San Diego Nowy Drzewicz is not.
High D (2.20) / AVOID
