"Unfiltered Dark" when translated. One of three house beers at Bigos. Brewed by "chmilny Lew" ("Hop line" brewing). The brewery is in Lviv.
Simple build of Amber malt syrup, some toastiness, Caramel, and maybe Vienna malts. Faint cherry extract. Reminds me of Macedonian cherry lagers, actually.
Too sweet, though not cloying. Mouthfeel is a bit too full-bodied given the shallow depth of flavour. Quite filling, but smooth and wet (though unrefreshing). More of a lighter touch on terms if texture is needed - perhaps a light to medium body instead of this full body, and less flirtation with sticky and syrupy characteristics. It's Overcarbonated as well.
Drinkable fare, and respectably priced for expats at sub-$1 USD/pint.
This won't dazzle the discerning drinker, but it's a welcome departure from the pale lager schlock dominating the Ukrainian market. I'll enjoy finishing my glass, but it won't appeal to style enthusiasts per se.
