Pours an auburn chestnut color, with ample tan foam that fades to a broken skim and spotty lacing. Good clarity with visible rising carb trails.
Aroma is sweet, wet grains, rubber, maple candy. A little off.
Taste is a little better, nutty and raisiny, though it’s sweet bordering on cloying. Weird table sugar and soggy grain notes, like an oversugared bowl of mushy Grape Nuts. Sticky and medium bodied, though it has a clean feel like a lager. In small sips, it’s not bad. Can’t say it’s great, though as a cheap Ukrainian Barleywine is certainly a novelty worth trying.
