Fruit, spice and grounded with an earthy sweetness that only buckwheat honey provides, the Life Brew team gains inspiration from Belgium wheat building a brown ale that’s so much more than simply brown.
Redish brown and light with froth, the rusty ale comes alive with a spice forward medley of allspice and with bold hints of dark fruit following closely in tow. Steely sweetness of caramel, pecan and light brown sugar coat the tongue with an early malty embrace.
As the ale seeps deep into the tastebuds, its sweetness relaxes and develops a cola-like nuttiness, laced with pecan, peanut and dry sorghum. Dried cherries, plum, date and fig stop shy of prune or raisin character as the fruit, spice and lingering malt sweetness has the palate comparing the beer to fruitcake.
Malty sweet and medium full on the palate, the beer’s honey influence leaves behind a robust toasty, nutty and spicy flavor that only comes live in the finish. Hints of red wine and mild brandy warms the throat, leading to an aftertaste of fruitcake and rum.
