This is my opening salvo in/on New Oliver Beers Sunday (Week 771)! Not only does it help in the furtherance of The CANQuest (tm), but it also leads into a massive purge of/from my kitchen reefer. I hope to make some real inroads over the course of the day.
From the N2 CAN: "Nitro Oatmeal Coffee Stout"; "MUST Be Refrigerated"; "Light the Way"; "This Oatmeal Stout is infused with coffee from Ceremony Coffee Roasters for a creamy, satisfying taste. We prefer ours with breakfast."; "Oliver Brewing Co. has been proudly brewing craft beer in Baltimore, MD since 1993."; "How to Pour[:] 1. No need for a hard shake, gently rotate once or twice. 2. Turn over and pour hard into your glass. 3. Watch it settle and enjoy."
Fortunately, I was taught a LONG time ago to read the directions. I did exactly as directed, rotating it until the lid was obviously pressurized, before Crack!ing open the vent. The Hiss! was enough to tell me to CANtinue with an inverted G-Line Glug into my awaiting glass. This caused a cascade that eventually settled out to become a finger's cap of dense, foamy, deep-tan/light-brown head with excellent retention. Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44), allowing ZERO light penetration. Nose was rich with smoky, dark-roasted coffee. Mmm. I just finished my morning cuppa joe before starting this evolution, so it made for a nice segue. Mouthfeel was certainly creamy, as should be expected in/from an N2 pour. The trade-off was not as marked as it usually CAN be with the taste being muted by the gas. Here. it was still definitely dark-roasted coffee, but it did leave me curious to try and find a standard CO2 CAN at some point. It was definitely a Stout, definitely infused with coffee, but I just felt kind of unfulfilled throughout. Not cheated, just … not satiated. Finish was dry & bitter, in keeping with the style. It was certainly NOT sweet in any way shape or form. All right, then. Onwards! YMMV.

Pretty dang black, a little brown around the edges. Nice tan foam, decent enough retention, nice lacing.
Smells like a very dark roast coffee.
Has that stale coffee flavor that turns me off in coffee beers. A little acrid, a little acidic. A bit of oatmeal cookie-like flavor as well.
Nice body for something so light.
I kinda feel like I would have liked this better if they had left out the coffee and upped the dark malts
