I liked this IPA for its taste - it’s not heavy and not very bitter or sweet. Not being sweet is unusual for a double IPA of this strength in my limited experience... definitely very drinkable if you like hoppy beers. Had it on draft at a recently reopened Virginia restaurant. Thankfully outdoor seating is easily done this time of year!

Appearance: hazy orange in color with 1/2" head that slowly falls to a thick surface covering.
Smell: citrus and pine are picked up by the nose.
Taste: caramel, grapefruit, golden apples, grass, pine, and a decent bitterness level. Alcohol is well hidden.
Mouhtfeel: medium bodied. Crisp start, less crisp finish.
Overall: good DIPA that is easy to drink.

Canned 6/30/17
16 oz. can poured into a becher.
A nice amber pour that is slightly hazy and topped with one finger of light foam quickly fading to just a thin cap.
The nose is subdued but at first gave a strong smell of carrots. After that, fruit esters and sweet smelling hops with some malt aroma. The taste is more spicy than sweet and a bit peppery. It finishes with a clean hop bitterness. The feel is slightly soft with medium body and and carbonation pushing towards high that brings some tongue bite mid-drink.
Not bad, I would like to try a fresher bottle but I definitely like the taste more than Vae Victis which is more spicy.

Poured an orange body with minimal head and mild citric aroma. Dry, earthy, bitter, almost grassy with some grapefruit sweetness underneath it and clean finish. Not the most exciting or exceptional beer but it's easy to drink and something different from the now standard NE IPA.
