Created in collaboration with Charm CIty Meadworks, this kettle sour is brewed with desert mesquite honey and fermented with passion fruit for a perfect balance between sour and sweet.

I'm back from my break in/on New Oliver Beers Sunday (Week 771)! Not only does today help in the furtherance of The CANQuest (tm), but it also leads into a massive purge of/from my kitchen reefer. I hope to make some real inroads over the course of the day.
From the CAN: "Pasion Fruit Kettle Sour Ale"; "Pucker Up"; "Brewed in collaboration with Charm City Meadworks, this kettle sour is brewed with desert mesquite honey and fermented with passionfruit for a perfect balance between sour and sweet."; "Oliver Brewing Co. has been proudly brewing craft beer in Baltimore, MD since 1993."
How interesting! I do not believe that I realized that it was a collab when I bought it. The ex-Old Lady is both an apiarist & meaderist & while we have gone our separate ways, I still dig mead. This held real potential to be memorable.
I Crack!ed open the vent to begin a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. This turned out to be the right course of aCANtion since it not only formed two-plus fingers of burbling, fizzy, foamy, bone-white head with modest retention, but I also maintained its clarity. It was a gorgeous Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7), the color of honey, with NE-quality clarity! This prompted CANother impromptu visit from The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus, all clamoring for a taste. Nose was light, really innocuous with just a hint of a light tartness and a scent of honey. Hmm. Mouthfeel was kind of thin and watery. The taste was lightly tart, very approachable, with that same hint of honey that I noted on the nose. Warming, I also got a light tropical fruitiness, but it could have been any of the usual suspects, not necessarily passion fruit. Hmm. Finish was lightly tart, very refreshing with a lingering honey & tropical fruit taste that lasted well after the swallow. Not bad, but one was satiating. YMMV.

Usually I am not a fan of Sours. This one might be the exception! Very balanced sour with a hint of Cranberry, yet not overwhelming in sour notes. Great Beer!
