Welcome (back, sort of) to the CANtinuation of New Oliver Beer Sunday (Week 772), which I beCAN last Sunday & did not have a ChANce to finish. Not only does this further The CANQuest (tm), but it also helps to clear a logjam from my reefer. There really is a modicum of reasoning to this ongoing madness.
From the CAN: "Chocolate Stout"; "Buy Your Way to Heaven"; "This Stout is brewed with cocoa powder, roasted cacao nibs and natural vanilla extract for just a touch of sweetness in the finish."; "Oliver Brewing Co. has been proudly brewing craft beer in Baltimore, MD since 1993."
I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. If you don't think that this caused a pseudo-cascade that eventually resulted in the formation of two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, light-tan head with very good retention, then you've got CANother think CANming! Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44) with garnet highlights at the edges. Nose was rich & redolent with a chocolaty roastiness. It was more towards Baker's chocolate than coffee, but the roastiness also lent it a smoky coffee-like smell. Mmm. Mouthfeel was dense, full, thick & creamy, like a dollop had been scooped into my mouth & onto my tongue. Mmm. Say, who's zoomin' who on this "sweet" bushwah? Sweet, my Bishop! This was liquefied bittersweet Baker's chocolate! It was like drinking a chocolate chip cookie. Mmm. Dang, but this was a bargain! Finish was dry & roasty & you CAN take that "touch of sweetness" nonsense with you as you see your way out! Great add, great pic, great beer! YMMV.

Sold in four packs of twelve ounce cans at my local market while I was waiting for my Indian food next door. Big sticky headand near black body. Nose is balanced with coffee and roasted facing off against hop assault.
Stale, almost sour note throughout, reminicent of an oatmeal stout. Also, coffee and baker's chocolate are again checked by aggressive pine and medicinal hops. Texture is thick and oily. Overall a relatively big, belligerent stout worth a try.

Chocolate dark, not too sweet. Nice dryness. Not bad.
